Nordea Issues €500 Million Green Bond

    Casper von Koskull
    CEO, Nordea

Stockholm (NordSIP) Nordea, the largest financial group in Scandinavia, issued a green bond worth €500 million last month. The use of the proceeds will be to finance or refinance assets and loans with a positive environmental impact, such as loans to customers investing in renewable energy segments like wind or hydro.

“I am delighted to see a very tangible effort that shows our commitment to deliver on our sustainability agenda and work towards a greater good in line with our purporse,” Nordea CEO Casper von Koskull remarked.

Von Koskull added that the bond issue, Nordea’s first green bond, had been well received by investors and was a natural development in Nordea’s objective to expand involvement in sustainable finance. Promoting businesses with sustainable solutions on energy and infrastructure is already a guiding Nordea principle.

Nordea has over 10 million personal customers and over half a million corporate customers throughout the Nordics.
