Investors back Shell in climate change vote but register concerns (IPE)

Investors delivered “a clear and strong display of confidence” in Royal Dutch Shell’s approach to decarbonization in voting down a shareholder resolution about emission reduction targets, according to the company.

The resolution, which was put forward by Dutch pressure group Follow This, was defeated by 94.5% of votes cast at Shell’s annual general meeting (AGM) yesterday. Around 5.5% of votes cast supported the resolution, although one-and-a-half times as many votes were withheld.
