    IRRI Nordic Cut – Best Analyst & Best Providers (Engagement, Indices & Measurements)

    Share post:

    Stockholm (NordSIP) – As the summer is well under way in Sweden, we unveil a few categories of the IRRI survey 2019‘s “Nordic Cut” this week. The first category is the Best individual analyst for sustainable and responsible investment research, and we are lucky there to find enough candidates to distinguish between the best Nordic analyst, as chosen by Nordic voters (and global voters), as well as the best non-Nordic analyst, as selected by the Nordic voters.

    After that, we will look at three categories of service providers (firms) for engagement support, sustainability indices and benchmarks, and impact measurement services. Given the high degree of specialisation of these three categories, we don’t have enough Nordic candidates to provide a true Nordic winner. Instead, we are happy to showcase the Nordic choice among global providers.

    And the winners are…

    The Best Nordic individual analysts for SRI research (the result is similar for global and Nordic voters):

    1 – Tytti Kaasinen, Associate Director, Engagement Services, Sustainalytics (previously GES International)
    2 = Oshni Arachchi, Head of Controversies & Global Norms Research, SRI Research, ISS-Ethix
    2 = Stina Nilsson, Senior Manager, Engagement, Sustainalytics (previously GES International)

    Among international (non-Nordic) analysts, the Nordics had difficulties picking a winner. As a result, six winners made it to the first place!

    1 = Antonios Panagiotopoulos, Vice President, ESG Research, MSCI
    1 = Leslie Swynghedauw, Vice President, ESG Research, MSCI
    1 = Meggin Eastman, Executive Director, Head of ESG Screening and Impact, MSCI
    1 = Sudip Hazra, Head of Sustainability Research, Kepler Chevreux
    1 = Victoria Irving, Vice President, SRI, Morgan Stanley

    In the following three categories of service providers, the Nordics chose,…

    … for best engagement support:

    1 – Sustainalytics
    2 – Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS-Governance)
    3 – Hermes Equity Ownership Services

    … for best sustainability indices and benchmarks:

    1 – MSCI Indices
    2 = Fossil Free Indexes
    2 = FTSE Russell
    2 = Solactive AG
    2 = WilderShares

    … for best impact measurement:

    1 – MSCI ESG Research
    2 – Sustainalytics
    3 = Morningstar
    3 = Upright Project

    You can find all the global rankings on SRI-Connect of course, but for the rest of the Nordic Cut, you’ll have to watch out over the next few weeks, as we will continue to unveil a new category every week.

    Meanwhile, you may check what the best Nordic SRI Analyst, Tytti Kaasinen at Sustainalytics, told NordSIP about two themes she is passionate about: water and children’s rights.
