Stockholm (NordSIP) – Solactive, announced the launch of the Solactive ISS ESG Prime Index Series. The index series tracks various regional segments of the global stock market and focuses on companies identified as the top ESG performers based on ISS ESG ratings.
Solactive is a German index provider. Established in 2007, it provides 3,496 tailor-made and multi-asset class index solutions for ETFs and other index-linked investment products. ISS ESG is the responsible investment arm of Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS), one of the world’s leading provider of corporate governance and responsible investment solutions specialising in proxy voting advisory.
The Solactive ISS ESG Prime Index Series provides coverage of the following five regional categories: global, emerging markets, developed markets, the USA and Europe. According to Solactive, customized extensions to the series focusing on specific countries, regions, or sectors could subsequently be added subject to demand and consistency with its methodology.
“After launching our first set of broad, exclusion-based ESG-benchmarks in February, we are now pleased to extend our range and offer clients yet another alternative in that space, this time focusing on the ‘best of the best’ in terms of overall ESG performance by combining exclusions with a rigorous, absolute best-in-class approach,” commented Timo Pfeiffer (pictured), Head of Research at Solactive.
The criteria for inclusion in the indices focus on ISS ESG’s definition of “Prime” companies, which need to achieve or exceed the sector-specific performance requirements defined by ISS based on the ESG risk exposure and impact of their respective business model and value chain (absolute best-in-class approach), according to ISS. Companies included in the index series must operations consistently with established ESG standards, including the UN Global Compact and exclusion of controversial sectors.
“We are pleased to announce the launch of this index series in furtherance of our aim to deliver cutting-edge and industry leading ESG solutions to institutional investors, globally,” said Marija Kramer, Managing Director with ISS ESG. “With the Solactive ISS ESG Prime Index Series, investors will now be able to identify best-in-class ESG performers with both precision and efficiency.”
