Take it Easy!

In our most recent edition of NordSIP Insights, we look at the easiest way to access impact opportunities. At a recent event in Stockholm, we listened to asset management experts Kärim Chatti from Triodos Investment Management and James Tomlins from M&G Investments followed by a fireside chat with Gunnela Hahn of the Church of Sweden. We also had an interactive discussion with members of the audience who provided more perspective on the topic of impact investing.

This week, we also took a closer look at the issue of a green bond by Mowi the worlds largest supplier of farmed Atlantic Salmon. On the topic of food, we also discovered an interesting perspective on the pricing of plan-based food by Jo Raven of the FAIRR Initiative.

On the anniversary of the tragic mining accident in Brazil, the Swedish AP funds’ Council on Ethics announced a visit of the site together with the PRI and the Church of England’s Pensions Board, which, also this week, committed £600 million to the recently launched FTSE TPI Climate Transition Index.

On Monday evening, at the Finansforeningen/CFA Society Denmark’s New Year dinner, Dr. Jane Thostrup Jagd received the organisation’s first ESG prize ever. Meanwhile, Länsförsäkringar updated its climate transition and exclusions lists to upgrade Fortum and OCI from their climate transition list and to exclude eleven new companies, including Saudi Aramco.

On Wednesday, we had a chance to catch up with Johanna Lundgren Gestlöf in her first week at SPP as the new Head of Sustainability. “ESG requires hard work, curiosity and a deep understanding of the connection between ESG and the UN Sustainable Development Goals,” she says.

Also this week, the Foresight Group, an infrastructure and private equity investment manager, announced it secured commitments of €342 million in the first close of a new infrastructure fund with strong interest from the Nordic region. Last but not least, we found that the European Commission will hold a stakeholder dialogue on sustainable finance in Brussels, on March 12 and prospective participants have until February 18 to apply for a spot!
