Stockholm (NordSIP) – On Friday March 5th, Arabesque Asset Management announced the appointment of Ulrika Hasselgren as the group’s new Head of Nordics as well as Head of Europe for Corporates and Sovereigns, with immediate effect. Hasselgren will be based in Stockholm and will oversee Arabesque’s range of ESG data and insights services for corporate and sovereign clients in Europe, and lead the group’s activities and expansion in the Nordic region
Established in 2013, Arabesque provides technology solutions for sustainable finance, including investment strategies, data and insights for financial decision-making, and AI investment technology. On the same occasion, Arabesque also announced the appointment of Herman Bril as the new CEO of Arabesque Asset Management. He will start in July 2021 and joins from the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF), where he worked as the fund’s CIO.
“I am thrilled to welcome Herman Bril and Ulrika Hasselgren to Arabesque, with their experience of successfully developing and implementing sustainable investment strategies at various financial institutions. As the company scales up its products and services worldwide to meet market demand, their vision and leadership will be invaluable,” Georg Kell, Chairman of the Arabesque Group and founding Executive Director of the United Nations Global Compact, says.
A New Adventure
Hasselgren joins Arabesque from Danske Bank, where she was the Global Head of Sustainability and Impact Investment. Prior to that, she worked as the Global Head of RI Strategy and ESG Integration at Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS). She left the Danish bank at the start of last summer after almost two and a half years.
At the time, three months after the COVID19 pandemic shut down Europe, Hasselgren told NordSIP that it had been “an opportunity to take stock of this intense and highly productive period and I decided that it was time for me to take off. I’ve helped build a strong and solid platform with the right people to take on the reins and I can now seek my next challenge.”
“I’m excited to be joining Arabesque’s fast-growing team with its collaborative and entrepreneurial culture, and I look forward to bringing innovative new data, insights and investment products to the Nordic market,” Hasselgren says.
“Over the coming few years, technology will transform the global marketplace, with artificial intelligence shaping the rapid evolution of financial services from online banking to asset management, and ushering in the next generation of ESG products. The emergence of technology has also enabled the integration of sustainability within business and investment processes at a greater scale than ever before, and Arabesque will play a key leadership role in this transition through its unique range of AI-based ESG solutions.”
