Stockholm (NordSIP) – Atle Investment Management, a subsidiary of Bure Equity, provides a common platform for several Nordic fund boutiques. ALCUR Fonder, Fondbolaget Fondita, Gro Kapitalförvaltning, Humle Fonder and TIN fonder all benefit from the firm’s expertise and professional services. From now on, the asset managers will be able to count on the additional support of sustainability specialist David Seekell (pictured). On 13 October, Atle announced that Seekell would be joining the organisation as Head of Sustainable Investing and ESG.

“I am really excited to join the team at Atle and humbled by our shared responsibility to society and our investors,” comments Seekell. “Atle is all about giving top portfolio managers true freedom to pursue their strategies. I was drawn to Atle because this same freedom is given to me as sustainability manager –  I have the opportunity to apply my experience and expertise in ways not constrained by the history and inertia of a large institution,” he adds.

Originally from Massachusetts, Seekell holds a PhD in Environmental Science from the University of Virginia. He joins Atle after an impressive academic career. As Assistant Professor and Wallenberg Academy Fellow at Umeå University he has conducted some award-winning research in environmental science. Previously, he was a senior researcher at the Climate Impacts Research Centre in Abisko. Seekell is also accredited by the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) as a specialist in Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting (FSA).

“We are delighted that David has chosen to switch to the financial services industry,” says Sofia Beckman, CEO of Atle Investment Services. “He has a unique skillset with his background as a researcher that we are convinced will take Atle’s sustainability work to a whole new level,” she adds.

Petter Löfqvist, Manager at Humle, one of the fund companies under Atle’s umbrella, sounds equally glad to welcome Seekell to the team. “I am really happy that we have recruited David. His background and capabilities will further strengthen Humle Fonder’s sustainability analysis of companies in the Swedish equity market and enhance our engagement discussions with new perspectives,” says Löfqvist.

“The financial system is our most important leverage point for achieving the sustainable transitions that we urgently need. My goal at Atle is to accelerate these transitions” concludes Seekell.
