In the context of the 15th conference of the parties to the UN convention on biological diversity, convening in Montréal at the beginning of December 2022, we take a closer look at what investors can achieve. The hope is for the conference to be able to achieve a Paris-style global agreement about biodiversity and nature that will then be expected to translate into nature-related regulations, guidelines, reporting obligations and long-term targets for institutional investors and their external fund managers.
This therefore is a good time to prepare the ground and make the necessary changes. Biodiversity hasn’t always been a focus for many investors. In order to explore the subject and help lay the groundwork for institutional investors to understand the topic and get ready to make those changes, we talk to Jenny Xie, Climate Analyst at Wellington Management and co-lead on the IIGCC adaptation and resilience work stream.
