AP7 Recruits New CIO

Stockholm (NordSIP) – Earlier this year, Swedish buffer pension fund AP7’s CIO and deputy CEO, Ingrid Albinsson, confirmed that she would be stepping down this summer after over a decade at the helm of the investment organisation. The search for a worthy replacement is now over as, on 15 June, the name of Albinsson’s successor was officially revealed. Lena Fahlén will be taking over as CIO of AP7 in September 2023.

Fahlén is currently Head of Global Fixed Income and Currency at Handelsbanken Capital Markets. She joins AP7 after a long and successful career at Handelsbanken, where she has held a number of leading positions within areas such as asset allocation, fixed income, and economic research. Prior to that, she was an economist at Sveriges Riksbank.

“Lena Fahlén is a top recruitment that I look forward to working with,” comments AP7’s newly appointed CEO, Pål Bergström (in Swedish). “By hiring her, we get a CIO with extensive experience in leading both management, analysis and capital market operations. She is an engaging leader who has shown a great ability to develop different businesses,” he adds.

The incoming CIO herself sounds enthusiastic and proud to be entrusted with the responsibility of managing AP7’s assets. “I am very much looking forward to my new role, not least in light of the new investment opportunities in alternative assets,” she shares in the press release.

What might strike a chord with NordSIP’s readers is that the incoming CIO also expresses her desire “to contribute to the high ambitions that AP7 has in the area of sustainability.”
