Stockholm (NordSIP) – Swedish insurance group Folksam ended May with a number of changes at the top of its management group, not least of which, the appointment of Marcus Blomberg as the new head of Asset Management and Sustainability, a role that he will take up on July 1st.

Marcus Blomberg (Pictured) is currently Head of Investments and has been at Folksam since 2021. He has previously worked at AP4, AMF and Länsförsäkringar, among other firms.

“I am very happy that Marcus Blomberg chose to accept the role. He has deep expertise in both asset management and sustainability issues and is also a highly valued manager and leader. It is a big suit that Marcus has to fill, Michael Kjeller has very successfully ensured that Folksam’s customers received a safe and good return on capital for many years. Michael’s broad experience of our operations will be extremely valuable when he steps in next spring as the new head of the Group Staff and I look forward to continuing to work closely with him in his role as deputy CEO,” says Ylva Wessén, President and CEO of Folksam.

The change appears to be motivated by the scheduled retirement of Björn Nordin, Folksam’s current head of Group Staff, in the spring of 2025. In response to this change, Michael Kjeller, Folksam’s vice president and head of Asset Management and Sustainability, will then take over the role. Bloomberg replaces him as Kjeller moves to his new position.

In parallel with his other assignments, Kjeller has been Acting Director of Marketing and Sales for some time.  Michael Kjeller remains as acting head of Marketing and Sales, while recruitment of a regular head is underway. When a new manager is in place, which is expected to be next spring, Michael will take over as head of the Group Staff and at the same time retain his role as vice president.
