NordSIP’s Gustafsson Appointed AFII Chair

Stockholm (NordSIP) – The Anthropocene Fixed Income Institute (AFII) announced the appointment of Aline Gustafsson as its new Board Chair today 17 September 2024.  The AFII is a Stockholm-based research organisation focused on empowering fixed income investors to drive positive climate action.

The non-profit AFII was founded in 2020, and its team of experts produce innovative research, analysis and portfolio tools to support the fixed income community in delivering positive climate and biodiversity impact through their investment decisions.  In her new role, Gustafsson will lead the AFII Board to support the oversight of the executive team and help ensure robust governance practices are being implemented.  She will combine the role with her current responsibilities as Managing Director and Editor of NordSIP.  Commenting on her appointment, Gustafsson said: “It is a privilege to be appointed as Chair of the Board of the AFII.  The organisation has set a high bar for its research and the impact it has on institutional investors.  I am eager to work alongside such a talented and dedicated team to support their mission.”

AFII Executive Director Justine Leigh-Bell welcomed Gustafsson’s appointment as Chair, highlighting her valuable experience and proven track record in the industry she believes will be pivotal in steering the organisation through the next phase of its growth: “We are incredibly proud to welcome Aline as our new Board Chair.  Her deep expertise in sustainable finance and leadership experience will be invaluable as we continue to scale our efforts to transform fixed income markets.  We are confident that under her guidance, the AFII will make an even greater impact on the global climate transition.”

Gustafsson’s professional career to date has spanned key investment management roles in Stockholm, London, and Geneva.  These included stints as a long/short equity hedge fund portfolio manager, buy-side analyst, and both CFO and COO at several asset management firms.  Gustafsson is a CFA Charterholder and obtained an MBA from Harvard Business School and a License in Economic Sciences from the University of Geneva.  Looking forward to taking on her new role, Gustafsson said: “The AFII is at the forefront of aligning debt capital markets with today’s climate and nature challenges.  I believe this is essential to unlocking opportunities that serve both investors and the planet, and I look forward to contributing to their continued success.”
