Where Defence and Sustainability Meet in Finland

Share post:

Stockholm (NordSIP) – The ongoing global geopolitical realignments and associated emerging uncertainties demand that responsible investors acquire new skills and learn to navigate the risks and opportunities underlying the resurgence of the defense industry. At the same time, adjusting to the new reality will take time.

Meanwhile, studies suggest that despite the media attention, increased sales volumes and investments received by the arms and defense industry, the European defense industry remains underfunded. To address these concerns, the Finnish Sustainable Investment Forum (Finsif) is organising an event about the defence industry and ESG on April 2nd.

Finsif seeks to address five main questions via presentations from key contributors during this event. Carl Haglund, CEO of Veritas Pension Insurance, will consider what the role of an institutional investor is in the European defense industry. Sam Jones, President of the Heartland Initiative, will the discuss the key criteria for Responsible Investors Navigating the Defense Industry. Kamil Zabielski, Head of Sustainable Investment at Storebrand AM will consider How Investors Can Practically Approach the Defense Sector. Selja Ryöppy, Sustainability Manager at Tesi (Finnish Industry Investment Ltd) will discuss how to implement responsibility principles in defense industry investments. The event will also discuss the results of the study “Market Study on Finnish military product and dual use companies” by Tesi.

The event is only available to Finsif members.
