Stockholm (NordSIP) – Dr. Emma Sjöström has joined Sweden’s €116 billion Seventh AP Fund (Sjunde AP-fonden AP7) as its new Head of Sustainability Communications.
In her new role Sjöström will be responsible for developing and producing key sustainability publications including thematic reports, climate action plans, and annual sustainability disclosures.
Sjöström joins AP7 following an eight-year tenure as Co-Director of the Misum Sustainable Finance Initiative hosted by the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE). In that capacity she conducted research on sustainable finance and ESG investment, mainly from a management and organisational perspective. Her PhD dissertation on Shareholder Influence on Corporate Social Responsibility and was published at SSE in 2009. Sjöström has also been a visiting fellow at the University of Hong Kong.
In announcing her move Sjöström reiterated her enthusiasm for disseminating knowledge on sustainable finance, as well as her intention to retain her links with the academic world. She joins AP7 having previously collaborated with the organisation on various projects, including a 2020 examination of the effectiveness of active ownership on environmental and social issues. Her work also featured in AP7’s 2022 Theme Report on Sustainable Impact Measurement.
This year AP7 is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a series of retrospective interviews with former officials and leaders. It also announced on 21 May 2025 that it is inviting applications for the head of new active equity management team focused on climate transition investing, as well as for roles in fixed income and asset allocation.
