Other Memberships

We believe that working with other industry participants on collaborative engagement initiatives is often helpful in understanding ESG issues and the challenges that the integration of those issues into the investment process pose.

MFS became a signatory to the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) in February 2010. The PRI has been a valuable partner in our ESG integration efforts. MFS has benefitted from, and contributed to, much of the research and guidance developed by the PRI and other signatory members. MFS has also participated in many of the collaborative opportunities the PRI affords. MFS was the PRI’s lead partner at the 2018 PRI in Person signatory annual meeting in San Francisco, California.

MFS has been an investor signatory to the CDP since January 2010.

MFS is a founding signatory of the US Investor Stewardship Group. The ISG is a collective of some of the largest US-based institutional investors and global asset managers, along with several of their international counterparts. It was formed to establish a framework of basic standards for investment stewardship and corporate governance in the US.

MFS is a member of the Thinking Ahead Institute, a global not-for-profit that seeks to influence positive change in the investment world by improving the provision of savings.

MFS is a member of Focusing Capital on the Long Term (FCLTGlobal). FCLTGlobal is dedicated to rebalancing investment and business decision-making towards the long-term objectives of funding economic growth and creating future savings.

MFS is a signatory of the Asian Corporate Governance Association (ACGA), an organization dedicated to working with companies, regulators and investors on the implementation of effective corporate governance practices throughout Asia.

MFS is a user signatory to the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).

MFS also claims compliance with the UK Stewardship Code, the Japanese stewardship code, and meets Australian FSC standard no. 23: Principles of Internal Governance and Asset Stewardship.
